Students can choose to go to College or University after secondary school.
The College is suitable for those who want to learn skill-related or technical courses.
Technicians or skilled labors can obtain their training at college.
The University is good for those who want to learn more thoretical subjects.
Professionals such as doctors, dentists, engineers and lawyers will obtain their pre-requites and training at university.

Improve your reading, writing and math skills
Through the Literacy and Basic Skills program, you will learn reading, writing, math and other basic skills (e.g. computer) to help you prepare for:
- secondary school credit
- employment
- apprenticeship training
- post-secondary studies
- greater independence
These courses are free and available in English or French. There are courses designed for Indigenous people and Deaf people as well.
What you need to take these courses
To take these courses you have to:
- be an Ontario resident
- be 19 years old or older
- have reading, writing and math skills below the grade 12 level
To find out if your reading, writing and math skills are below that level or to find a class near you contact Employment Ontario.
Learn in a classroom
